Racing over at Wolfpak Racing

Saturday, April 9th, 2011

I was able to get over to Wolfpak Racings track, and get in some racing with my friend Dean and his soon Dragi.  It was opening weekend for get new track, and the racing was fun.  After some much needed practice, as this was my first time to see Wolfpak Racings new track, we got down to some racing.

We ended up getting in 4 races, it seemed that my times, and total laps kept improving as the night progressed.  This was a fun little track to race on.

Race 1: NASCAR Nationwide

Race 2: LMP Challenge
Race 3: LMP
Race 4: NASCAR Nationwide

Nascar Racing down at Downforce Hobbies

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Tonight I headed down to Downforce Hobbies in Mesa, they are starting to run Nascar Style body racing on the big track on Wednesday evenings.  Since this was my first time racing on this track I showed up a little early and got some practice time in.  After some help with replacing my gears from Downforce on my car, I was able to keep on the track with improved lap times.

My friend Dean from over at Wolfpack Racing showed up to also run the Nascar event.  In the picture above, my car is the one in the center, yellow with orange trim, and Dean's car is blue car on the right.  They ran two classes, Pro and Non-Pro,  Dean and myself were entered into the Non-Pro division with one other racer, and there was three Pro division drivers.  Overall I placed second in my class and fifth overall, Dean placed first, and also placed third overall beating one of the Pro drivers.

I think I will enjoy racing this class, and with a lot more practice and getting some more races under my belt I believe I will be winning a few of these events in the future.

Racing down and Downforce Hobbies

Saturday, February 26, 2011

Laura and myself went down to Downforce Hobbies to get in some Drag Racing.

The night started off with us watching the Flexi racing, with our friends over are Wolfpack Racing, Dean and Dragi.  They were both entered into the Flexi race, and it was fun to watch the race, and help out being a track marshall.

After the flexi racing, I started to get in some practice runs with my Drag car.

The drag racing was fun, in round one, I lost the race, but the car next to me red lighted, so I moved on too round two.  I forgot to take a picture of round one.

For round two, I was up against a really nice car, and the racing was very close.  I dialed in at a time of 1.16 and my opponent dialed in a time of 1.316.  When we finished I had a time of 1.1656, and my opponent had a time of 1.2199, but he beat me at the line with my slower reaction time so I ended up losing at the line by a margin of only 0.1117.  That was a very close and fun round, and my night was done.  I look forward to maybe getting in another round of drags next Saturday night, and maybe this time I can make it out of he second round.

Although Laura did not get any racing in she had a good time and looks forward to getting in some racing on Wednesday night, and again next Saturday.

Laura and Myself getting in some Slot Car Racing

Its been awhile since we have been down to Downforce Hobbies, so me and my daughter Laura decided to go down and getting in some track time.

First we started out on the banked track, each of us trying out different lanes to get practice in.  Laura did very well, and hardly crashed at all.  Her skills are coming along very nicely.

Next we moved into the drag strip room, and got in some runs with my Drag car.  Again the car ran pretty consistent in both lanes.  Although the left hand lane was slightly faster for the car the the right.  They are having a bracket race this Saturday evening, and me and Laura are planning to attend.

Below is a small video I took of Laura racing the Drag Car.
